frontline: the way the music died | PBS With the record industry clearly hurting, what will it take for an artist to make it in the music business these days?

My note to the FCC re HDTV - Blog Maverick - The Mark Cuban Weblog - www.blogmaverick.com Interesting proposal by "The Benefactor" to the FCC re: HDTV. I'm intrigued by HDTV not so much because of the quality of the picture, but by the spectrum size. I spoke to a friend at KERA Ch. 13 who wasn't so impressed by the compression of HDTV - but, you can't help but wonder how our TV programming could improve. (OK - some of you are humming that Bruce Springsteen song - "57 Channels" and nuthin' on! ) I'll take your point. But at least it would make acquiring broadcasting less expensive.

New Old 97's

Dropped by the Old 97's webpage this week. They have a new album coming out July 27th and are streaming 3 new songs there. Nice tunes particularly "In the Satellite Rides A Star". Let me know what you think. Also enjoyed this journal from Ken Bethea on being in a band and balancing fatherhood with barnstorming.

Tom Petty Interview , March 31, 2004

This is a great interview with Tom about his time in the Traveling Wilburys, George Harrison, The Rock Hall, The Heartbreakers & Howie.

Mozilla Firefox - The Browser, Reloaded

Tabbed browsing is the best way to read blogs. Firefox is a quick and easy download and lots of fun to use. Dig it.

Hello & Welcome to Pablo's Point!

Snappy name, eh? Glad you like it. It'll do for now. Here at Pablo's Point you will find links to those articles, photos, thoughts, laughs, and Onion Polls that I used to overload your e-mail accounts with before. Yes - those pesky articles on zeppelins & dirigibles, how bad smoking is for you, links to Pete Townshend's diary posts & interviews, reviews of last night's show/game, etc. - you will find them here now.

More importantly, you'll find it WHEN you want to find it. (Instead of receiving it on e-mail, then deleting it a month later to make space on your account. Yes - you! And you know who you are.) Feel free to nose around the place - and post replies when the spirit moves you.
